Crimson Moon Report #22 - January 28, 2011

Summary: Rumors spread of new activity in Ta'Vaalor.

As you take in the scenery, a pair of Vaalorian guards stroll by. "Report said that under this crimson moon some folks in Ta'Illistim went crazy last night.", one guard says to the other. "Better the book-elves than us!", the other replies before they pause at the fountain.

And followed by others... since I did respond when I came back:

The first guard looks around and shakes his head. "They are not the only ones dealing with unease. We get more reports of fervor and people leaving the city during the night. The Crimson Moon is doing more than making a few crazy folks act their kind.", he says before the second one pipes in. "We are too strong to be taken in with such foolishness!", is followed by an almost sad chuckle by the first. He claps the younger, less experienced guard on the shoulder before walking away.

The second guard looks at the other leaving and clenches his spear in his hand, as if suddenly angry. "We will not fall to such things!", he cries to the departing guard and raises his spear in his hand. He suddenly blinks and looks back at the fountain, as if distracted by the water. "I've got to get some sleep. How I drew night watch again, I'll never know.", he says to no one imparticular before heading back to the barracks.

As you watch the young guard leave, you ponder the odd encounter. Hundreds of years the Vaalorian guards have done things in the same manner, and now suddenly the night watch is being altered. While a small detail, you consider it and put it to be pondered at another time.

A sudden flash comes to your mind as you remember the encounter. The friendly expressions the guards had, versus the sudden impactful..rage? The younger soldier had, and how quick it came to his features. You sense something is amiss.

And after asking Coleesta, got this:

Coleesta gives a soft chuckle and replies, "Soldiers are soldiers, and maybe that one just needs some leave to get some aggressions out.", and blushes before going back to her tasks, content in ensuring a comforting appearance.

And after some more surmises...
Looking at Coleesta, you sense this random outburst is not new to her. Something is odd about the night watch in the military city, you think to yourself before you recognize the guards are both gone.

So my character went to question the gate guards.

Got this:

As you look over the day guards, they seem as if nothing is amiss. This begins to confirm your original instincts.
